Children – a gift and responsibility

Children are precious and entrusted to us by God.  As parents, we have a responsibility to teach them about God, teach them to follow Jesus, and lead them to moments where they encounter God themselves.  

The Hope Church faith community practices baby dedication – a moment where we stand together as a faith community with the child and their parents and witness and support the parent’s decision to dedicate their child to God.  

We are told in 1 Samuel 1 that Hannah presented her son Samuel to the Lord. In Luke 2:22 we read that Mary and Joseph brought their baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem in order to present him before the Lord. 

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 tells us: “Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on their children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.”

2023-2024 Baby Dedication Dates

We currently have two scheduled Baby Dedication Sundays – Sunday, October 8th, 2023 and Sunday, January 21, 2024.
